Kieran Egan is an emeritus professor at Simon Fraser University, British Columbia. He received his BA in history from the University of London and his PhD in the philosophy of education from Cornell University. He is the author of many books and articles, including, in 2021, his first book of poetry, ‘Amplified Silence’, and his first novel, ‘Tenure’. He is also the author of many publications on teaching and curriculum, including The Educated Mind: How Cognitive Tools Shape our Understanding and Getting it Wrong From the Beginning: Our Progressivist Inheritance From Herbert Spencer, John Dewey, and Jean Piaget. Egan received the Grawemeyer Award in Education in 1991 for his contributions to the field of education.
