Study on Implementation and Use of Balanced Assessment Systems
About This Project
This NAEd project, the Study on Implementation and Use of Balanced Assessment Systems, will provide guidance to state and local educational agencies regarding how to
(1) Design policy, professional learning, and other local systems necessary to implement balanced assessment systems;
(2) Foster and maintain a culture of data literacy to appropriately and effectively use the data from a balanced assessment system, as well as additional critical contextual information, to improve teaching and learning; and
(3) Implement a system to use the data to continually improve the assessment system.
This 30-month study will produce a targeted collection of 7-9 commissioned papers as well as guidance documents on (1) the implementation of a balanced assessment system and (2) how to enhance data literacy and use of assessment data for teaching and learning.
