Gloria Ladson-Billings on 60 Minutes

May 2, 2024

We are excited to share that on Sunday, May 5th, “60 Minutes” will air an inspiring segment featuring Gloria Ladson-Billings, the immediate past president of the National Academy of Education (NAEd) and co-chair of our committee addressing educational inequities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The segment will highlight the remarkable work of two Black high school girls who achieved the extraordinary by solving the “unsolved” – proving the Pythagorean Theorem using trigonometry as well as their New Orleans school, where 99% of the students are Black girls, and all are high achievers. The segment showcases the power of dedicated teaching and its impact on academic success. It explores crucial questions about how educational practices can ensure academic success for all students, highlighting innovative strategies that make a difference.
