Eric Hanushek is the Paul and Jean Hanna Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University. He is internationally recognized for his economic analysis of educational issues, and his research has had broad influence on education policy in both developed and developing countries. In 2021, he received the Yidan Prize for Education Research. His widely-cited studies span such topics as the effects of class size reduction, school accountability, teacher effectiveness, schooling and growth, and the economic returns to school quality. He has authored or edited 26 books and over 300 articles.
He is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, the area coordinator for Economics of Education of the CESifo Research Network, and a research fellow of the IZA Institute of Labor Economics. He has been a member of the National Assessment Governing Board (NAGB), chair of the Board of Directors of the National Board for Education Sciences, and Deputy Director of the Congressional Budget Office. He previously held academic appointments at the University of Rochester, Yale University, and the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is a member of the International Academy of Education along with being a fellow of the Society of Labor Economists and the American Education Research Association.
He is a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and completed his Ph.D. in economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. (http://hanushek.stanford.edu/)
