Larry V. Hedges is Board of Trustees Professor of Statistics, Faculty Fellow at the Institute for Policy Research, and Professor in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. He received his BA from the University of California, San Diego, and his MA and PhD from Stanford University. His research interests include the development of statistical methods for social research, the use of statistical concepts in social and cognitive theory, the demography of talent and academic achievement, and educational policy analysis. He is president of the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness and member of the National Education Sciences Board. His books include Statistical Methods for Meta-Analysis (with Ingram Olkin), The Handbook of Research Synthesis (with Harris Cooper), and The Social Organization of Schooling (with Barbara Schneider).
