Webinar: The Foundations of Supportive Learning Environments

May 11 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

On Monday, May 11, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. ET, join the National Academy of Education and the Equity Assistance Center-South at the Southern Education Foundation for the first webinar in a three-part series on supportive learning environments.

Too often, schools and educators are expected to improve student outcomes without a shared understanding of the conditions that shape how students learn. This session brings together leading research and educator experience to examine how learning, development, relationships, and context influence student engagement, belonging, and access to deeper learning.

Featuring Mary Helen Immordino-Yang alongside three educators, this conversation will connect insights from the learning sciences, human development, and neuroscience to practices in schools and classrooms.

Participants will leave with:

  • a stronger understanding of how students experience learning environments;
  • a shared language for discussing belonging, development, motivation, and the conditions that support deeper learning; and
  • core ideas to help educators strengthen supportive learning conditions.

Upcoming webinars will focus on:

  • Policy and Systems: the school and district conditions that make supportive learning environments possible; and
  • Instructional Practices: the everyday teaching moves that make conditions visible in classrooms.

Each webinar stands on its own, so participants are welcome to attend any session independently.

Register today to join researchers and practitioners in a timely conversation about what it takes to create learning environments where every student can thrive.
