Carl Bereiter is a professor emeritus at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. He received his BA, MA, and PhD from the University of Wisconsin. Bereiter has been a Guggenheim fellow and twice a fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. His books include The Psychology of Written Composition andSurpassing Ourselves: An Inquiry into the Nature and Implications of Expertise (both with Marlene Scardamalia) and Education and Mind in the Knowledge Age. Also with Scardamalia, he is developer of CSILE (Computer-Supported Intentional Learning Environments).
