Diane Whitmore Schanzenbach is McCourt Chair at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. She is also a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. She primarily studies policies intended to improve the education, health, and economic outcomes of low-income children, including income-support programs and school resources such as school finance reform and class size reduction. Schanzenbach has testified before both the Senate and the House of Representatives on her research. She was formerly Director of the Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution, and is currently a member of their Advisory Council and is a nonresident senior fellow at Brookings. She received a B.A. in economics and religion from Wellesley College in 1995 and a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University in 2002.
