Dr. Estela Mara Bensimon directs Bensimon & Associates, committed to developing equity-mindedness through interrogating taken-for-granted practices from the standpoint of racial equity. She is a University Professor Emerita and founder of the Center for Urban Education having retired from USC in 2020. Bensimon is a member of the National Academy of Education and Education Commission of the States. In 2020 she received ASHE's Howard Bowen Award and the McGraw Prize. Her most recent book is From Equity Talk to Equity Walk: Expanding Practitioner Knowledge for Racial Justice in Higher Education.
