NAEd Launches New Research Fellowship to Support Early Career Scholars

Mar 16, 2026

The National Academy of Education, in partnership with the Spencer Foundation, is proud to announce the NAEd/Spencer Research Fellowship, a new program providing critical support to education researchers navigating an unprecedented, disrupted job market.

This one-time fellowship will support 12 recent doctoral graduates from our 2024 and 2025 Dissertation Fellow cohorts with $100,000 in salary and benefits for one year of focused research and career development. Fellows will participate in professional development retreats with NAEd members and receive dedicated mentorship as they advance their research programs and conduct their employment searches.

The fellowship runs from September 2026 through August 2027. Selection decisions will be announced in late Spring 2026.
